Wah Wah Burgers specialises in mid-marbled Wagyu burgers. It offers prized 60-180gr tenderloins between soft grilled buns, together with a selection of wholesome salads, satays and steaks on Seminyak’s Jalan Kayu Aya, just across from The Legian and The Seminyak.

Brainchild of an artist who adds a bit of eccentricity to his fondness for healthy gourmet cooking, Wah Wah presents satisfying meals with a set of quirkily labelled selections and bawdily named signature martinis. It also serves a variety of wines served by the glass and by bottle.

Wah Wah is a street-side restaurant, with eye-catching white wooden panels and signage at the front bearing a stylised double-W logo with ‘4 yr Oral Pleasure’ underneath. The structure has a patio shaded by a partly thatched roof, contributing to the restaurant’s shack-like exterior. There are two ways in. The first leads you into the stylish cocktail bar and wine cellar where you can shop for Chilean and New Zealand wines as well as Louis Roederer Champagnes.

To the right is the main indoor dining area, with solid teakwood tables and whitewashed wooden chairs. The warm and woody interior has bright red walls with several works of art. Friendly young staff members wear black shirts printed with quirky double entendres, such as ‘Wah the F…’ and so on.

Open the menu, and the first thing you’ll see is Wah Wah as a ‘home of not-so humble comfort food’. The lists of Wagyu burgers follow, comprising a choice of five signature burgers in three sizes. Small, medium and large are at 60gr, 120gr and 180gr respectively. The ‘WW’ Classic comes with a tomato reduction and Wah Wah’s wild honey mustard mayonnaise, while the Triple Cheese is topped with gorgonzola, parmigiano and mozzarella.

The Works comprises three different cheeses topped with fried quail egg, and the Wild Porcini comes with porcini mushrooms and black truffles combined in a red wine sauce. Top of the range is the foie gras burger, with a slab of French seared duck liver pâté on top and ‘WW’ wild berry reduction. First timers, we recommend, should start with the best of all, offered as ‘3 in 1’ and ‘4 in 1’ with each of the above in mini options. Each topping combo provides its own different flavours to the tender and succulent Wagyu patties.
