Viceroy Bali resort and spa consists of 25-villas is situated on a secluded ridge of the Petanu River gorge along Bali’s “Valley of the Kings,” an appellation given by locals for the generations of Balinese royalty who have resided in nearby villages. Garden Villas

Each of the garden villas is 150 square meters (1615 ft2) comprised of an amply spaced bedroom and sitting room with combined indoor and outdoor living space; a spacious open plan bathroom integrating the private indoor swimming pool; and a garden and daybed (called a balé) where hours are easily spent relaxing with scenic vistas of the valley and beyond.

Terrace Villas

One of the highlights of the Terrace Villas is the balé, a small Balinese pavilion, graciously and conveniently perched over the private outdoor swimming pool. Guests relish sitting in the balé looking over the spectacular Petanu River gorge whilst having an afternoon drink, reading, or just enjoying a light meal and refreshment from room service.

Deluxe Terrace Villas

One of the design virtues of the Deluxe Terrace Villas is the balé, a small Balinese pavilion, perched over the private outdoor swimming pool. Guests appreciate the languid nature that comes with lying back in a balé looking over the spectacular Petanu River gorge whilst having an afternoon drink, reading, or just enjoying a light meal and refreshment, and certainly forgetting about the world they came from.

Gymnasium

Viceroy Bali gym features a full set of free weights and the latest equipment for both cardio and resistance training. Boutique

The Viceroy Boutique offers guests the opportunity to buy quality casual resort wear, jewellery, artefacts and hotel memorabilia. Although the boutique opens from 9am to 5pm daily, guests can request for the receptionist to open the boutique, if closed, at any time.

Helicopter Pad

Viceroy Bali is the only hotel in the Ubud district with a helicopter pad situated a mere stroll from the reception pavilion. Hotel guests wanting to avoid the 45-minute drive from Bali’s Ngurah Rai international airport to Ubud can opt for a direct helicopter transfer to the hotel. Guests can also tour Bali and the neighbouring islands by helicopter arranged through the Viceroy Bali concierge.

Conference Room

The air-conditioned conference room can seat up to 25 persons for a theatre-style conference, or can be prepared as a formal board room for meetings of up to 14 persons. The facility is fully equipped with state-of-the art audio & visual aids including video projection, connected to a fully wired computer system, wireless & cable Internet access, and a speaker conferencing telephone. Office supplies and basic refreshments are included with bookings for its use. The conference room can also be converted into a mini theatre with projector screening for videos or movies. The facility also has a library where guests can borrow books and DVDs.

Common Area Facilities

Viceroy Bali is equipped with a large infinity edge pool with a fountain feature and a swim up bar overlooking the spectacular Petanu Valley. At the poolside is a traditional Balinese balé (gazebo) with romantic soft white cushions and curtains providing guests that perfect place to feel at ease whilst sipping on a cocktail and enjoying the gardens and views surrounding them.

The Lobby

The two-tier lobby at Viceroy Bali has exquisite features for guests to admire. The soaring alang – alang (thatched) roof structure and hand carved three-meter wide dance scene provide a dramatic and welcoming image.

Check-in

Check-in time: 14:00 hours. Early arrival is subject to the availability and readiness of their villa. The Original Service Voucher containing reservation number for all pertaining services and billing instructions is required upon guest check-in.

Check-out

Check-out time: 12:00 hours. Late checkout is subject to a half-day rate but only with prior arrangement and villa availability. A shuttle service in a hotel limousine is provided free of charge to Central Ubud.

Laundry

Collection before 10:00 hours will ensure delivery before 18:00 hours. Pressing and dry cleaning service is also available but with a next day return before 18.00.

Library

The library is situated in the Conference Room and offers a wide selection of books, as well as DVDs for guests to borrow during their stay.

Medical Service

Viceroy Bali is affiliated with a nearby clinic that offers 24-hour on call doctor assistance. Note: in the event of a serious medical emergency helicopter evacuations are available.

Activities that can be arranged by Viceroy Bali Resort and Spa

Puri Saren Agung, the Royal Palace

Currently home to descendants of Ubud’s last king, Puri Saren Agung was the seat for the village’s ruler from the late 1800s to the mid-1940s. Parts of the grounds are open to visitors for a glimpse of what the royal abode holds: well-preserved pavilions with intricate carvings furnished with colonial-era European pieces, and hand-carved stone reliefs dotting the premises. A traditional Balinese dance is held in the evenings – good weather permitting – at the courtyard, which forms a dramatic backdrop for these entertaining performances.

Pasar Seni, the Art Market

The Pasar Seni is a treasure trove of local handicrafts, home wares and quaint souvenirs for anyone looking to bring home a made-in-Bali product, spread over two floors. Fresh produce such as fruit, vegetables, poultry and local snacks can be purchased from the wet market located at the basement of the building. To snag the best bargains, arrive early in the morning and do not be afraid to haggle with the shop owners – it is a way of life here, and they enjoy the exchange.

Pura Saraswati, Water Palace

This temple and water garden was built at the end of the 19th century, by commission of the royal family, and named after the Hindu goddess of art and learning. The “padmasana” or, main shrine, features fine carvings. Traditional Balinese dances are performed to a gamelan orchestra at the outer courtyard, next to the lotus pond twice a week.

Museum Puri Lukisan

Follow the evolution of art in Bali through the collection of paintings and sculptures at the Museum Puri Lukisan, which was founded in 1956 by a prince of Ubud and a Dutch artist. The museum was recently renovated and its gate is a fine example of traditional Balinese architecture. There is also a space committed to a revolving showcase of up-and-coming local artists.

Padangtegal Monkey Forest

Commonly known as Ubud Monkey Forest, the Wenara Wana is home to Padangtegal’s Pura Dalem or temple of the dead. It is also home to a group of mischievous long-tailed macaque who will entertain you with their antics. Do keep shiny objects out of their sight, as they have been known to kidnap such items for ransom of a sweet or treat.

Tours Cycling

Take a leisurely bicycle tour around the Ubud area to see the culture and diversity that Bali’s heartland has to offer! Your English-speaking guide will entertain you with mythical stories and various facts to enhance your experience. Recommend early morning or late afternoon due to the midday heat. Rice Paddy Trek

With an English speaking guide, this trek will take you to the rural wood carving village, Nagi, where you will catch a glimpse of everyday Balinese life. On your way down to the beautiful Petanu River, your guide will wind you through picturesque rice fields and coconut plantations so you may truly capture the essence of Bali’s magical countryside. Petulu Village Tour

An English speaking guide will accompany you to visit Petulu village as thousands of white Heron birds return to their nests lined along the village road. The visit can be by car, bicycle, or trekking and begins at 5.00pm.

Bali Bird Park

Here you’ll find the largest and finest collection of Indonesian birds in the world along with birds from Africa and South America. Encompassing two hectares of botanical landscape, the park provides sanctuary to almost 1000 birds of 250 different species accommodating a rich display of flora with more than 2000 tropical plants including 50 varieties of palms attracting numerous butterflies.

Elephant Safari Park

Lauded as the “World’s Best Elephant Park,” facilities include a full reception and Information centre, a comprehensive museum with a large collection of elephant memorabilia and the only mammoth skeleton in South East Asia. Coffee Plantation

The coffee plantation and tour combines a Kintamani and Mount Batur volcano tour. Arabica coffee and robusta coffee are mostly found in the central highlands of Bali. Balinese families who live in the countryside typically grow coffee in small plantations or merely in their backyards and process beans traditionally with a unique powder the result of their labour.

Balinese ‘Offering’ Lesson

US$ 20 per person.

The Balinese hand-make the daily offerings to the deities of the island, and you can learn how to create the various traditional designs using white coconut leaves. Our Balinese staff will guide you and share tips on the significance of different items used in the offerings. After which, you can don a sarong and offer your creations to the Gods at the hotel’s family temple.

Balinese Dance Lesson

US$25 per person.

Imagine yourself dressed in traditional Balinese costume, dancing to gamelan music playing in the background. Make your dreams come true by learning basic Balinese dance moves from one of our Balinese staff, and then performing for your loved ones! Lessons have to be booked through reception one day before. Balinese costume, props and music supplied.

Traditional Kite Making Lessons

Flying kites is a source of fun and leisure for Balinese of all ages. Partake of this activity by making a kite under the guidance of an instructor. The highlight of the session is when you test your personally handcrafted kite alongside fellow Balinese kite fliers in the rice fields around the hotel.

Helicopter Tours

Temples Coastline

This panoramic flight of the west and south coasts of Bali begins with the beaches of Kuta and Legian, followed by the mysterious Tanah Lot temple – situated in the ocean and accessible via land only during low tide – and remarkable rice terraces. Then proceed towards the southern Bukit peninsula, past Jimbaran Bay and Dreamland surf beach before flying onwards to the ancient Uluwatu temple, where the coastline of limestone cliffs, remote beaches and seaweed farms are truly spectacular. This trip is sensational at sunset.

Kintamani Volcano

From the airport, fly to the breathtaking volcanic crater of Mount Batur, which is the remains of a huge volcano that exploded thousands of years ago. Lake Batur, Bali’s largest lake, is situated within this crater and is next to a younger active volcano, which constantly recreates itself with periodic eruptions of ash and rock. We circle this young volcano’s crater, which occasionally smokes, before making a quick turn over Lake Batur then head south over river gorges and beautiful rice fields.
