Smoqee Lounge and Sky Bar is among the very few rooftop bars to grace the favourite sunset and seafood dining destination that is Muaya Beach, fondly known as Jimbaran Bay. As one of the highlighted food and beverage outlets at the Le Méridien Bali Jimbaran, Smoqee invites resort and public guests to its two levels, with the upper main space featuring a laidback vibe with an open-air bar, and a unique water deck feature before a series of table setups and comfy loungers. Between Smoqee and the dramatic bay’s sunsets are Jimbaran’s famous seafood cafes that come to life with their billowing barbecues – which inspired this venue’s name.
Smoqee is part of the resort’s unique dining and entertainment complex that occupies the western edge of the resort grounds. It is located above the resort’s other dining venues, namely Bamboo Chic, Latitude 8 and WALA, and serves as the place where you can head up to and end your night after those marvellous dinners at the resort’s outlets or the seafood cafes. As well as the rooftop, the Smoqee Lounge serves as an indoor chill-out space with its interiors featuring a splash of colours with chequered floor tiles and striped columns… and the sofas also feature patterns that create a somewhat psychedelic lounging experience.
If the lounge’s dance floor, together with the 80s and 90s retro sounds played by the DJ here, aren’t really your thing then head further up to the rooftop where a lighter scene awaits. Here you’ll find the venue’s main charming spot for cocktails and live music – best visited during sunset time. More laidback tunes fill the air from a resident DJ’s turntables adjacent to the open-air bar. From here you can enjoy an exquisite selection of signature cocktails crafted by world-renowned mixologist, Joseph Boroski. Cocktail at hand, Jimbaran’s dramatic sunsets are best enjoyed on the set of cosy loungers.
Before the curvy water deck is an elevated platform from where you can take in the whole view, and where fire dancers and live musicians take stage during exclusive social gatherings and special events. The latest to fill the Smoqee agenda is the ‘BeerGasm’ beer and meat festival that takes place every Saturday. During the fest, guests get to enjoy the finest beers with over 20 international labels and fine quality imported meats to go with it. It also enables you to sample the host of culinary treats from Bamboo Chic, ranging from Bali’s popular ‘babi guling’ roast pork and smoky barbeque ribs, succulent chicken and duck rotisseries, Japanese sushi and seafood grills, and a whole lot more.
On any other evening, enjoy Smoqee’s great selection of sunset tapas with your Boroski cocktail, served every evening between 17:45 and 18:30. Smoqee is also conveniently accessible from the spacious parking lot of the Muaya Beach seafood cafes, making it possible for seafood café diners to hop over and enjoy the rest of their evening on the airy rooftop.
