Romeos Bar & Grillery at Ossotel Bali offers a cosy and warm dining experience in Legian with its great range of grills and comfort cuisine, together with refreshing drinks and cocktails served with flair. The venue features direct street access from Legian’s Jalan Padma Utara, from where you can easily drop in with friends or family for a fun time and a feast. Since opening in 2013, it has added a touch of novelty to the somewhat conventional northern Legian neighbourhood, with its sleek boxy sleek boxy architecture with high windows against a criss-crossed framework.However, stepping inside Romeos Bar & Grillery you will find a slight contrast; its subtly lit interiors and brick walls are inspired by a traditional pub, and some corners even feature candelabras overflowing with melted wax, which gives it a more relaxed countryside feel and goes perfectly with a menu that specialises in a variety of grilled meats and seafood.
Items are available in single and family or group sizes. The ‘family roast’, for up to five or six diners, require advanced booking, with selections such as whole organic chicken on the rotisserie with thyme, garlic and pan drippings, or slow-roasted lamb leg with cucumber and mint raita. A roasted pork loin with crisp, crackling and cider gravy is fit for a family feast, at IDR 450,000. Romeos Bar & Grillery also offers a ‘black board grill’ selection, comprising chicken breast, pork chops, lamb chops, rib eye, tenderloin, and grilled prawn for those who prefer seafood.
The signature Romeos Mix Grill on the other hand, is for those who want to relish the whole offering, comprising rib eye, pork rib, sausage, chicken wings and lamb leg at IDR 395,000. Grills come with a choice of seven different sauces, from Romeo’s homemade steak sauce, lemon-parsley butter; red wine bordelaise, whiskey peppercorn, creamy horseradish, and classic béarnaise. Those going for a lighter meal may opt for sandwiches, pastas and pizzas that are equally tempting with meaty ingredients, such as the ham and pineapple pizza with a tomato base topped with Danish ham, pineapple, mozzarella, rocket salad and shaved parmesan.
Romeos Bar & Grillery also serves great Asian and Indonesian selections, including ‘udang goreng’ wok-fried prawn in Balinese spice paste and served with capsicum, onion, ginger and steamed rice, and the ‘ayam kalio’ braised chicken with chilli paste and coconut milk served with steamed rice. A seafood platter consists of grilled barramundi, squid, oceanic prawns and mussels served in Balinese style with steam rice and traditional long bean salad at IDR 115,000, and there are also takes on the local ‘nasi campur’, fried rice and noodles, mixed satays, and the Thai favourite Tom Yum Goong.
A great wine list complements the meat-lover’s dining experience, while special promos include Friday Rock ‘n Roll nights with a ‘buy one, get one free’ on premium cocktails from 17:00 onwards, including live entertainment from a local band. Thursday Ladies Nights feature Jose Cuervo with free-flow tequila for the first 25 ladies and 20% discounts on certain drinks every Thursday from 21:00 onwards. Daily ‘happy hours’ from 17:00-19:00 offers another free beer or premium cocktail selection with every purchase.
