Petitenget Restaurant & Bar is one of the most recognisable dining spots in Seminyak; one of the favourite go-to places for breakfast, lunch and dinner amongst expatriates and visitors in this fashionable area. The restaurant presents a menu of international dishes that use fresh, local produce, and offers elegant seating options indoors, as well as cosy alfresco settings in a leafy and tree-shaded garden. It is named after the central landmark of Petitenget Temple, which is only a few steps south of the restaurant.Established since 2011, Petitenget Restaurant & Bar is hard to miss along drives down the main Jalan Petitenget Road, positioned on the northern corner of the junction just out of the temple, and with its name in clear white capital letters across its roadside hedge.Petitenget Restaurant & Bar features a cosy, colonial inspired interior. Step inside and you will discover a dominantly white dining room with classical floral-motif floor tiles and an overall relaxed ambiance under open beam ceilings. This modern, air conditioned space offers a welcome relief during hot days in Seminyak, while the terrace outside features marble-top tables and comfortable wicker chairs for good-time meals with friends or family.
Blackboards clearly show the daily specials such as ricotta pancakes with caramelized strawberry and banana pecan nuts, vanilla and lemon mascarpone cream (IDR 54,000), as well as a luscious dish of crabmeat and soft scrambled egg Florentine on sautéed baby spinach and cherry tomato (IDR 60,000). For a simple but likewise wholesome meal, try the grilled sandwich with streaky bacon, fried eggs, Emmenthal cheese, rockets, fresh tomato, and its signature sweet n’ spicy roast chilli jam for IDR 48,000.
Conversely, you can select from the regular menu, with wholesome breakfast items comprising ‘light bite’ selections such as a yogurt bowl with granola and fresh tropical fruits, or the bircher muesli with grated green apple, dried mango, raisins and toasted almonds for IDR 46,000. Experience a local morning snack with the Balinese black rice pudding, served with local fresh picks of mango, banana and jackfruit, and a sweet douse of coconut milk and palm sugar, at only IDR 35,000.
For lunch, Petitenget Restaurant & Bar offers a broader selection that offers an eclectic mix of Western and Asian inspired dishes. The Vietnamese duck salad offers a unique experience for the palate, served with mint, green chilli, pickled carrot, glass noodles, and the traditional ‘nuoc cham’ sauce that provides the pleasant burst of sweet, sour and savoury with every bite. Mains include a great selection for seafood lovers, such as a laksa soup that owes its spiciness to the signature chilli jam, as well as a 130gr Black Angus minute steak for meat lovers served with caramelised onions, ruccola, grain mustard and French fries, at IDR 99,000.
Kids can enjoy pancakes, eggs or ham and cheese croissants for breakfast, and pastas, schnitzels, fish n’ chips, and pizzas for lunch and dinner. All dishes are available gluten-free. Desserts comprise a heavenly selection, such as a chocolate espresso tartlet with tamarillo sorbet, ice cream by the scoop, chocolate mousse, or a healthy tropical fruit platter with cinnamon-infused honey.
