Besides Chef Davenport’s vast array of international selections in which he also incorporates the latest approaches in food preparations, such as ‘sous vide’ low-temperature cooking, Ku De Ta Bali is best known for its lounge-style large parasol-shaded beachfront-bordering lawn and area, host to various private and international scale fashion shows, splurges, as well as community and charity events.
Ku De Ta’s main restaurant features a modern and minimalist approach to architecture, with clean lines and uninterrupted flow of energy from the coast to the lawn and gardens as well as throughout the dining areas. Various separate dining sections coexist within such as a Tree Bar featuring playful shades and textures reminiscent of a tropical forest setting, a high-ceilinged Wantilan pavilion roof with a spacious canopy under which guests dine by candlelight in the evenings or in a semi-formal atmosphere for long brunches by day, or a more intimate extension of the main dining room – the pergola.
Another extension is Fidel’s, a place to meet, be seen and rendez-vous with friends on the expansive leather couches. Sexion 9 is an open-style feasting hall; the lawn and the day beds on the beachfront is where all the excitement and scheduled events take place while a dedicated sunset box is positioned to provide the perfect vantage point to appreciate the sun going down.
Ku De Ta Bali has its own in-house international DJ team who compile its own series of compilation albums. It has also teamed up with local English-language radio dedicated to lounge and chill-out music, with its own FM airwaves and internet live streaming KDT Radio, reaching a world audience.
Good to Know about Ku De Ta Bali
Ku De Ta is a strong supporter of one of the largest charity events on the island, with its annual ‘I’m An Angel’ charity event. Considered as Bali’s philanthropic night-of-nights, Ku De Ta hosts the raising of funds for the non-profit foundation which supports a vast range of social activities on the island each year, combining a king’s feast prepared by a number of the world’s most acclaimed chefs, a high stakes auction as well as flying in international performers especially for the evening. The event usually takes place mid-year.
Ku De Ta is a perfect venue to enjoy lazy breakfasts, hearty brunches and lunches, as well as pleasing tapas with the close company of friends or a lively sunset gathering with cocktails. It also features intimate, candlelit dinners for two at the pergola. Reservations recommended.
