Rosso Vivo Dine & Lounge
You’ll easily catch sight of Rosso Vivo as you stroll halfway down Jalan Pantai Kuta’s footpath, with its striking red parasols and sofas on a slightly raised terrace. This stylish restaurant and lounge opposite Kuta Beach serves Italian fare in classic and elegant settings, and is a great place to enjoy an afternoon tea or cocktails.A great escape from the midday heat of the Kuta seaside, Rosso Vivo features a comfortable, cosy and romantic interior that combines minimalist Balinese and European designs. The main dining room is airy with full floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the busy beach road. Wooden grill ceilings with zigzagged neon lamps and ambient garden lighting around the cushioned rattan loungers make a cosy atmosphere after sunset.Meaning ‘bright red’ in Italian, Rosso Vivo offers a menu of soups, pastas and homemade pizzas together with a broad selection of cocktails, mocktails; and Italian, Australian, French and Chilean wines. The dominant red signifies ‘full passion’, especially that of its culinary team led by Italian Executive Chef Roberto Bogni.
Your Italian dining experience here starts off at a cosy table surrounded by plush seats covered in Italian style floral embroidery. A friendly staff member offers the menu, followed by bread and toast that is served with a tangy sauce, one which is reminiscent of a watered down version of the local hot sambal chilli paste. Thanks to Roberto, the menu covers all an Italian can ask for. For starters, there are the oysters and scallops, medaglioni di pesce or fish medallions, and the carpaccio di tonno, served on a wavy rimmed plate with thin tuna slices and arugula in mouth-watering lemon dressing.
All the pastas and pizzas are homemade, and you can find about a dozen different pasta selections on the menu. Worth a try is the Neapolitan spaghetti that comprises clam, chilli, tomato cherries, tomato sauce and a white wine dressing, an al dente treat that comes together with a burst of sweet and sour in your mouth. Conclude with something also Italian, none other than a yummy tiramisu.
Besides an Italian experience, Rosso Vivo has thrown in a slightly English feature with its popular afternoon teas. Delightful morsels and a selection of snacks come with your tray of Twinings. Afterwards, jazzy tunes and a great cocktail selection make for one of the best lounging atmospheres on the Kuta strip. Getting here is easy; you can drop by in a taxi or after an easy stroll along the beach footpath.
